International Master of Science in Rural Development (IMRD) Scholarships

This scholarship funding is open to students who wish to study in Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, and Spain. Hence, students who wish to get an international Master of Science in Rural Development (IMRD) can apply for this scholarship. However, for Spain, the scholarship holds at the University of Cordoba.

Each year, 15 awards go out to the selected candidates; three for European students and twelve for non-European students. Additionally, the Board of the scholarship may choose to add more awards to people from specific regions.

Under this funding, the VLIR-UOS scholarships aim at developing the region of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Likewise, other scholarship boards like the Erasmus Mundus aim for students in their partner countries. Again, every applicant must put in for an English-taught course at the university.

Benefits

  • VLIR-UOS: This scholarship covers the entire tuition fee of the candidate. Furthermore, it provides a monthly allowance of 1,150 euros and grants for travel expenses.
  • Erasmus Mundus: This scholarship contributes to the student’s schooling costs. Also, the schooling cost it covers includes tuition, study materials, and other research and project expenses. Eligibility

The requirements differ with the scholarship the student chooses. 

  • For VLIR-UOS:
    • Only applicants from one of the 31 eligible countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America may apply. 
    • Applicants must be residents of the eligible countries.
    • All candidates must be academically sound.
  • For Erasmus Mundus:
    • Applicants must be from partner countries of the scholarship in the ‘Partner Country Scholarships’ aspect of the funding. They must not be citizens of an EU country and certain other selected countries.
    • All applicants must not be residents of any ineligible country. Again, they must not be studying in these countries, undergoing training, or working in them. Also, any applicant who has done such in the last five years from the time of application is not eligible.

Erasmus+ Scholarships for the Master in Education Policies for Global Development (GLOBED)

If you seek a Master’s in  Education Policies for Global Development (GLOBED), this scholarship is right for you. Interestingly, the scholarship holds in 4 Universities in Europe after the GLOBED received an award from the European Commission. Annually, fifteen eligible students from all over the world get a chance to receive this scholarship – The Erasmus+ Scholarships.

Benefits 

The scholarship benefits come in two categories as is with the scholarship – the Partner Country and Program Country Scholarships. 

  • For Partner Country Scholarships: Annually, it provides 6,000 euros travel grant for students staying far away. Again, it offers 14,500 euros for the full participation cost and 1,000 euros as a monthly allowance. Additionally, there will be an installation cost of 1,000 euros for citizens from partner countries.

All funding lasts for the entire 24 months of studying

  • For Program Country Scholarships, it offers 2,000 euros as a travel grant for those in program countries. Again, it offers 4,000 as travel grants for those in even farther program countries. Also, there is a monthly allowance of 1,000 euros and 9,000 euros which covers the full participation costs.

For both programs, there is medical insurance throughout the duration of the course.

Eligibility

The requirements for the scholarship differ with the category as well.

  • For applicants for partner Country Scholarships:
    • They must not be citizens of a European Union country and some selected countries. 
    • All applicants must not be residents of ineligible countries.
    • They must have not carried out a significant activity like studying, working, or learning in the ineligible countries in the last five years.
  • For the Program Country Scholarships
    • Candidates who don’t meet the requirements for Partner Country Scholarships are eligible
    • Residents of European countries and other exempted countries in the former may apply
  • 75% of the grants will go to partner country students. There are other rules for allocating the scholarships with regard to the editions and country.
  • No more than three grants will go to students from the same country. Also, students with more than one nationality have to be specific with the nationality under which they are applying.
