Another round of opportunity is here knocking on the door for young African students. The International Space Weather Camp (ISWC) is about to take off again. This time, in a more grand style in South Africa.
To begin with, the South African National Space Agency (SANSA) has a goal to enlighten African students on space-related research and activities. So, this hand of opportunity has been extended to eligible students from South Africa, Germany, and the United States of America.
It will be an all-round exciting time in South Africa come June, learning all about space, the Planet, and the entire solar system. Furthermore, the camp will be the perfect training with the right space equipment, great lectures from the best mind in the field.
More so, there will be a lot of self-help activities where you carry out space-related projects all by yourself but not without the appropriate guidance and coaching. Everything you thought you knew about the space will be enhanced and made easier.
It will be an opportunity for the curious minds to get all the answers about the weather, local space and its weather, satellite, solar physics, aeronautics, and other hosts of space talks. It is an experience you will live to cherish in your lifetime.
South Africa is the host country for the International Space Weather Camp program. A country with at least sixty million population, known for its diverse cultural heritage.
Again, it is the southernmost country on the continent of Africa. South Africa has eleven languages and three capital cities which are Pretoria (executive), Cape Town (legislative), and Bloemfontein (judicial).
South Africa covers a massive land area of 471, 445 square miles. The country is popular for its unique interest in animal lives, the interest can be seen as it houses one of the largest game reserves in the whole of Africa called the Kruger National Park. The park is the abode of over one hundred and forty-five species of animals.
In education, South Africa towers in providing its students with quality education in Africa. Actually, most Universities in South Africa compete with other Universities on the international level. It is very obvious that a lot of students from other countries are now making South Africa their educational last bus stop. It is indeed a thing of joy that this country is making the African continent proud with its numerous achievements in the educational sector.
South African National Space Agency (SANSA)
Although South Africa has been involved with space activities and research for a long time coming. The country has established a reputation for accuracy and reliability in the international space community. The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) was founded in December 2010 by the National Space Agency Act. it has its head office in Pretoria.
The company helps to promote the use of space through advanced engineering and technology. To build human capacity in the industry and support industrial development in space technologies.
SANSA operates in four unique categories: Earth Observation, Space Engineering, Space Operations, and Space Science. Frankly, SANSA uses the benefits of space science to grow and develop the African region.
Additionally, SANSA provides services to organizations both at the local and international levels. Obviously, the education sector too. The services provided by this agency include space weather information provision, Earth Observation data products, and international launch monitoring. Again, they play a major role in observing and monitoring the near-earth space environment over South Africa.
Furthermore, SANSA has produced a number of Earth Observations and other data products for the public and specific stakeholders. SANSA has become a centre of excellence in Hi-Frequency Communications. It has both infrastructures and expertise to monitor the layers of the ionosphere that are responsible for Hi-Frequency communications.
Also, SANSA provides space weather information reports that are tailored to HF Communication and communications planning support based on user requirements.
Indeed, according to SANSA Research and Data, their academic research looks for ways to understand the sun, earth, and the space immediately surrounding the earth. SANSA however, maintains a huge variety of scientific instruments around South Africa and Antarctica.
