The University of Victoria Entrance Scholarships for International Undergraduate Students.

Majorly, the University of Victoria Entrance Scholarships is meant for international undergraduate students that are not studying for a Canadian secondary school diploma. The University of Victoria gives these scholarships to academically bright and outstanding international students that are eligible.

Eligibility

As an international student, you must gain admission into the University of Victoria before you qualify for the entrance scholarships.  However, all the eligible international students are automatically referred to the Student Awards and Financial Aid by Undergraduate Admissions.

Furthermore, the international students must send in an interim transcript (if you are a current secondary school student) or a final transcript (if you have already graduated within two years of application and have not attended another post-secondary school).

Undergraduate Scholarships from the University of Victoria

The University of Victoria awards different kinds of undergraduate scholarships to eligible international students.

• Aga Khan Academy Renewable Scholarship

As a matter of fact, these scholarships are awarded to the students that have proved to be academically outstanding in their academic record. Basically, this scholarship is worth $90,000, payable at $22,500 per year for over four years.

More so, the eligible student will be entering the University of Victoria for a degree program directly from an Aga Khan Academy. Besides, Canadian citizens and permanent residents are not eligible for this program.

More so, scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

• Academic excellence
• Leadership
• Community service
• School involvement
• Financial need

To qualify, you must meet these criteria:

• Gain admission to the University of Victoria
• Be entering your first undergraduate degree program
• Have an excellent academic record
• Meet University of Victoria’s English Language proficiency requirements
• Submit an online application via UVic’s online tools. All your documents, including your nominator’s documentation, must be submitted to [email protected] before March 15.
• Importantly, a school guidance counselor, principal, or department head at an Aga Khan Academy must nominate you.

International IB Scholarships

So, this scholarship is for international students that are completing the International Baccalaureate program with a minimum of 32 IB points. However, you must provide interim/final IB scores by March 15.

Note that transcripts sent after the closing date will not be accepted.

International Student Support Award

Basically, the value of this scholarship varies, the same as the number of scholarships.

Now, each entering or continuing international undergraduate student selected will receive one or more scholarships of at least $1,000. Meanwhile, these students must demonstrate financial needs. Part-time students are eligible as well.

President’s Vietnam Scholarship

Here, 3 selected students will receive scholarships worth $10,000 each. More so, you must show an excellent academic track record. In continuation, you must be from Vietnam and entering the first year of an undergraduate program at the University of Victoria.

Nelson Family Award

This Award is for international students that are entering or continuing an undergraduate program. They must be from Sub-Saharan Africa and demonstrate financial need.

International Bursaries

These bursaries are awarded to international students both graduate and undergraduate students.

The undergraduate applicants must maintain registration in a minimum of 4.5 units for credit in each term (3.0 units for students with a permanent disability).

Graduate recipients must maintain registration as full-time students in each term for which the length of the bursary award

So, for continuing students, you must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the previous academic session.
