The Write Her Future Scholarship is for the growth and establishment of black or coloured female students. Here, the scholarship targets the black or coloured female students that are actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in any field of their choice.

That is, ‘to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic quality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.’

To be eligible for NAACP Scholarships

The National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) provides yearly scholarships for different kinds of students. However, before you become eligible for any NAACP scholarships, you must scale through some criteria.

  • You must be a member of the NAACP. If not, you can join: here
  • Be an African American or a person of colour
  • Be currently enrolled full-time or be accepted into an accredited college or university in the United States of America
  • You must be a graduating high school senior, undergraduate student, or graduate student for the applicable scholarship
  • Possess grade point average of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 system
  • Demonstrate interest in a relevant field of study where applicable

Write Her Future Scholarship

Firstly, the Write Her Future Scholarship is not a renewable scholarship. Aside from that, the scholarship intends for female black students or female students of colour to pursue an undergraduate degree. However, these students must prove they are financially in need of a scholarship. Also, they must show themselves worthy of this scholarship by becoming a member of the NAACP and having an outstanding record in their educational history.

The scholarship value is $10,000

Write Her Future Scholarship Requirements

  • You must be a Black student or student of colour
  • You must identify as female
  • The candidate must be a graduating high school senior
  • Must be enrolling in an accredited 4-year, tax-exempt academic institution
  • You must an NAACP member
  • You must be a current participant in an active ACT-SO program
  • Candidate must complete the Write Her Future Scholarship application and video prompt submissions through the Inspire Initiatives scholarship portal
  • The candidate must be available to travel July 14-17, 2022 if you receive the scholarship

Scholarship timeline

The selected winners of the scholarship will be announced at the end of June or the beginning of July.

Also, all the scholarship applications are reviewed and scored by the Inspire Initiative Committee. That is NAACP leaders that do volunteer their time to read the applications, review transcripts, and also help select candidates for the approval of the scholarship. So, when they select you, they will notify you through the Inspire Initiatives scholarship portal.
